I own three Mark V Weatherby’s. Mark V Lasermark in .22-250, Mark V Deluxe in .270WM and lastly, a Mark V Deluxe in .378WM. Without any doubt, the .22-250 is the most accurate and simply put, you can’t miss with it. They are all beautiful works of art and function. Someone will get them when I’m done and gone and can only hope they are taken care of like I’ve done for them. Yes, the .270WM and of course the .378WM kick like mules but its worth it!

Proud owner of a beautiful Weatherby collection. 240 Ultramark, 257, 300, 378 and 460 Deluxe, 270WBY Vanguard Deluxe, 30-378 Accumark, 340 Weathermark, a 7mm-08 6 lug (Mark V) synthetic Carbine and 12 Guage O/U Orion. These firearms are all beautifully constructed and all shoot very accurately. One of the best investments of my life.

“Nothing shoots harder, faster or more accurate than a Weatherby Mark V.” I have many different brands of rifles, but when it comes to getting the job done, I choose my Weatherbys.
.240 thru .460, I have them all, German made beautiful. JP Sauers are very beautiful rifles. In addition, I added a 6.5-300 Wby to my collection and took a trophy mule deer this fall. Cheers!

I acquired my first Weatherby Mark V Deluxe rifle chambered in 270WM in 1982 for use in High Cascade Mule Deer hunting. I followed up with a 300 WM a couple years later. I absolutely love these firearms, and am old school in that I prefer beautiful wood stocks. To me they are like jewelry. I also have a Mark V Accumark in 300 WM that I use for Elk hunting in Wyoming. About 15 years ago I embarked on a project to collect all the Mark V Deluxe rifles that were currently available. I have them all, from the 240 thru the 460. They are NIB and never been fired. Since that time they have added some additional calibers, ie. 6.5-300 WM. Which gives me a valid reason to acquire yet another rifle for my collection. I’ve got a substantial investment in my collection, but not sorry about one penny of it.

I have always been a Weatherby fan. Started collecting Weatherbys some twenty years ago and now own a very beautiful collection. Starting with the 22 long rifle, 240, 257, 6.5 x 300, 6.5 PRC, 270, 7mm, 300, 30-378, 340, and 338-378. I have taken everything from squirrel to Elk with my Weatherby Mark V rifles and can tell you that they are the best. I have on order another 257 Deluxe that should be here soon. Can’t wait to see it in all of its glory and beauty. This will make two 257’s in my collection along with two 300’s. I hand load most of my ammo and only use Norma powder in most of them for great results. The Weatherby speak for them selves. The guys in our hunting club used to say, “when you hear that Weatherby bacon frying, it’s meat on the ground”. That’s because of the sound they make on open ground long range shots. You can’t go wrong with Weatherby Mark V Deluxe rifles. My older 257 I named AT&T because all you need is name and address of the critter. It will reach out and touch. Only have three of the Vanguards but they are still just as accurate as the Mark v’s. If you are looking for a true shooter, with a great trigger, and beautiful looks then Weatherby is the ticket.

I have shot Weatherby rifles for numerous years now and I now own eight different calibers which include a Wby. 22, Wby.Mark V 22:250, Wby.Mark V .240 Magnum, Wby. Mark V .243,
Wby. Mark V .257 Magnum, Wby. Mark V .270 Winchester, Wby. Mark V .270 Magnum Lazermark and a Wby. Mark V 7mm.Magmun. All of these guns will shoot a sub 1 inch group using my reloads with Sierra Boat tail bullets. The .240 Magnum is my favorite of all. This gun will shoot almost bullet hole for bullet hole.
Needless to say, I am a firm believer in Weatherby rifles and I wouldn’t even consider buying another brand

To commenter Rick Kegley… “Beware of the man who only owns one rifle…he probably knows how to use it.”

I procured my Weatherby MarkV Deluxe chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor in 2020. I chose the MarkV Deluxe because I am ‘old school’ favoring rifles made of fine exhibition wood & blued steel…I tend to dislike the new plastic configuration of today’s rifle trends. Upon inspection of my MarkV Deluxe from muzzle to recoil pad…I could not detect any flaws at all. The deeply blued steel on the MarkV Deluxe is manufactured to perfection with no tooling marks…all metal is polished & finished to perfection. The walnut stock in the classic Weatherby configuration is still a masterpiece of craftsmanship in woodworking…the stock in it’s overall presentation is flawless…rosewood forend & grip cap perfectly fitted with no gaps or overlapping edges. The bolt action is very very smooth with a solid firm exact feel to the locking of the bolt. The overall design of the bolt with its unique streamlined rear shroud is the best design of any turn-bolt rifle that I have ever encountered. The fit, form & function of the Weatherby MarkV Deluxe is impeccable & flawlessly designed & executed. This rifle is aesthetically pleasing, as well as the ‘tack driving’ performance at the shooting range is outstanding. My only critique of the Weatherby MarkV Deluxe is that the bolt knob should be checkered as standard & the 6 lug bolt should be jeweled also. The 14 point checkering on the stock should be ‘skip line’ French checkering the likes of the old legacy MarkV’s. I only regret not having gotten a Weatherby MarkV Deluxe sooner than I did…as this rifle is truly my ‘dream rifle’ that is beyond all my expectations in what I look for & expect from a sporting rifle. Just by looking at it…you know it’s a Weatherby MarkV Deluxe !….thank you Weatherby!

I procured my first Weatherby MarkV Deluxe chambered for the 6.5 Creedmoor. I wanted a caliber that was easy on my shoulder & fun to shoot. Upon receiving my Weatherby, I inspected & scrutinized it in minute detail…from muzzle to recoil pad. The fit, form & function of this Weatherby MarkV Deluxe was flawless from the deep blue metal finish to the fit of all metal to wood. The walnut stock in its form & finish is impeccable…I could not find or detect any flaws in wood or metal. The bolt action in its overall smoothness & solid lockup is beyond outstanding. This Weatherby MarkV Deluxe exceeded all my expectations of being aesthetically pleasing as well as delivering ‘tack driving’ performance at the shooting range. My only critique of the current MarkV Deluxe’s is that the bolt knob should be checkered as standard & Weatherby should go back to the ‘skip-line’ style of stock checkering of the vintage Weatherby’s. My only regret is not having procured my Weatherby MarkV Deluxe sooner than I did. This rifle has far exceeded all of my expectations of owning my ‘dream rifle’…thank you Weatherby!

The Mark V Deluxe is the original and the ones made today are the best yet. Weatherby: Do you see what that action looks like? THAT’S what a Mark V action is supposed to look like! It doesn’t need the “jump on the fluted bandwagen” spiral bolt flutes–the action doesn’t need help in smoothness. The Mark V isn’t supposed to be a cookie cutter rifle but with the exception of the Deluxe you are doing your best to make it one!

I love how this rifle shoots and looks. With 101 grain Barnes LRX in my handloads, it shoots 5/16 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that I’m getting older and the rifle is heavier than I like when walking a lot. If I were a stand hunter or a glass and move hunter, I’d give it a 5 star review. I’m looking for a Mark V Hunter for a bit less weight.

I bought a Mark V .257 in 1987 and a Mark V .340 in 1999. I hand my ammo and can say you can drive tacks with these beautiful rifles. They are a pleasure to shoot including the .340 which I describe as more of a push than a hammer like a 30.06 gives you. I’m 77 years young and still love pulling the trigger on these rifles.

I own a plethora of J.P. Sauer manufactured Weatherby Mark V’s. My father started a passion with me when I was a child, and that passion remains to this day. All of my rifles- sorry to say- have been mainly safe queens, even though a few of them (the .257, .270, 7mm, and .300) have gone- minimally, I should state- on the hunt. The .460 Custom is a beautiful piece, having been bought as just a big and beautiful toy. The .224 is a remarkable and gorgeous little rifle, exhibiting a quality of wood not often seen in the W. German Weatherby’s. Having recently bought a Sheridan Weatherby .257, I must say that the quality of these modern rifles lives up to the standards of yester-year; a beautiful thing indeed!

Bought my first Mark V 300 Wby Mag when I was 19. I’m 62 now and still have it along with 2 Accumarks -257 & 338-378. I’ve always loved Weatherby rifles, the elegant stock, the balance and the blueing. Great shooters and that 300 with a 24” bbl is a fire breather. I prefer 26” bbl even though that fire coming out of that barrel was impressive to a 19 yr old kid! Weatherby will always rank #1 with this old man!

I’ve always had a passion for beautiful classic rifles. After years I finally special ordered a Mark V deluxe in 30.06. The gun is totally gorgeous and it’s best attribute of all is accuracy. I consistently shoot 3 shot groups measuring an inch or less at 200 yds. Cloverleafs at 100. It shoots every brand well
I got the gun in 19 and finally took it on an elk hunt to bc this year. The zero held to perfection regardless of the high altitudes. I couldn’t be more pleased with this beautiful well balanced product from weatherby. My only regret is I didn’t have one earlier in life.

I am using the 300 today that my father bought in 1958. It is as accurate now as when he first shot it. He used it from the plains of Wyoming to the mountains of Idaho, Alaska, Africa. Yes, it has signs of normal wear, of being in a rifle sheath on horseback but all of that just gives it character.

I own a mark 5 sportier in 340 weatherby absolutely love this rifle if I could only have one rifle this would be it capable of handling anything in north America I also own a vanguard sportier in 300 weatherby a very good rifle

I bought a mark V in 340 Weatherby for a brown bear hunt in Alaska. With no brake it was a pleasure to shoot. When sighting it in a buddy had a Rem 700 in 7mm and I compared the recoil between them and I was shocked how little the 340 kicked compared to the 7mm. You can’t go wrong with a Mark V in any caliber!

The most beautiful rifle I have ever seen. I bought my Mark V Deluxe in 30-06 as an all purpose rifle I could hunt with the rest of my life and then hang above my fire place when I’m older. Apparently I should have just hung the rifle and bought something else to hunt with because now there is a large chip in the stock where the bolt drops down and there’s two small spots in the clear coat forward of the bolt drop cut out. I’m all for using my rifle in all conditions and hunting hard, I just don’t feel like I should have to deal with this after shooting 2 boxes(20X) of ammo during beautiful sunny weather. I called customer service and yes they are willing to help me but it’s such a pain to get this fixed. I’ll have give my rifle over for repair(3 months) which also means I have to take my scope off and then eventually re-zero my rifle. Weatherby isn’t paying for my bullets though so they don’t care, even though I would say these are 100 percent their defects.
